Fanzine Workshop in Sydney

Fanzine workshop with Ethan Minsker from Ethan H. Minsker on Vimeo.

Hand crafted magazines: We gave a short presentation on our fanzine and then taught the kids how to make their own from scratch with paper, scissors, and staplers. Fanzines can give the voiceless a powerful way to reach a larger audience. For myself, making fanzines was a way to build a community of artists who later became the Antagonist Movement.

Psycho Moto Zine is a periodical published from the late 1980s to the present, consisting mostly of short stories, reviews, and artwork. The zine was originally published in 1989 under the name East Coast Exchange. Copies were produced illicitly by friends who worked in copy shops during Minsker’s college years at School of Visual Arts in New York City and in Washington D.C. during Minsker’s summer breaks.

By 1994 Psycho Moto Zine (PMZ) had transformed into an arts and literary fanzine with reviews that covered underground art, fanzines, films, and music. This connection between different creative elements was the inspiration for what would later become the Antagonist Art Movement.

A Belated Christmas Special

The McCaffery Christmas Special from Ethan H. Minsker on Vimeo.

The McCaffery Christmas Special is something I did every year. Just me filming and no one else ever saw it, until now! Now you can't unsee it. I will say sorry for the rape joke. I don't think rape is funny. I do like that fact the rapist dies in the puppet show. If you have any questions or comments leave it below.

Filmed in Glover-park Washington, DC in 1983 on a Betamax.

When I was a kid I remember watching Kentucky Fried Movie and there being a scene like this. I was 14 years old. It was 1984. But we still hate the Russians? I can't keep up.

Ghost Gun

Ghost Gun from Ethan H. Minsker on Vimeo.

This is a test for an art installation.
These guns move with the whim of a slight breeze, pointing in all directions reflecting the randomness of being targeted and killed. This is meant to be a memorial for the victims of gun violence. I have personally lost friends, and with mass murders and killings in the news looping over and over this project reflects on this subject. Each gun is meant to represent one person killed by a gun. The viewer adds the name. I will make 300 guns for the installation. In the center of the room will be a white box where the viewer can wright the name and what happened to someone they lost to a gun. I will then make a fanzine with selected text from the box. The space behind the box will have the guns hanging and I will place a mark on the floor where people can take a photo selfie and ask them to hashtag #Ghostgun.

I have no clue where I would show this.
